  • Dental Implants

    Dental Implants are metal posts or frames surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums. Once in place, they allow Doctor Laconi ​to mount replacement teeth onto them. ​
    How do Dental Implants Work? Because implants fuse to your jawbone, they provide stable support for artificial teeth. Dentures and bridges mounted to implants won't slip in your mouth, and individual crowns placed over implants won't.
    What to Expect During the Procedure? The procedure for the implant may take 1-2 hours, depending on the number of implants. When you are comfortable, Doctor Laconi will make a small incision in the gum tissue to reveal the bone, create space using special instruments, and gently insert the post-implant. The top of the implant is often visible through the gum.
    The number of returning appointments and the time required vary from patient to patient. Typically, the healing time is six months from placement of the implant post. Once healed, the permanent crown, bridge, or denture is placed over the post.
    What Are The Potential Problems? Although it is natural to be concerned about the pain caused by these procedures, most patients do not experience severe or significant post-operative pain. Occasionally, some people develop post-operative infections that require antibiotic treatment.
    How Long Will The Implants Last? Implants usually last a long time. Recent studies show a success rate of a dental implant greater than 95% for patients missing one or several teeth.

  • Porcelain Crowns

    Porcelain crowns are basically "caps" for your teeth. These crowns are crafted out of tooth-colored porcelain, which best matches the shine and color of natural teeth. The crown is placed over the original tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, or appearance. Porcelain crowns are used for the following.

  • Sleep Apnea

    Snoring is the sound of partially obstructed breathing during sleep. Snoring is also the primary indication of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a potentially life-threatening disease that causes you to stop breathing many times during sleep—the lack of oxygen results in repeatedly waking yourself up during the night. OSA leads to excessive daytime sleepiness and may put you at risk for high blood pressure, heart attack, or stroke.
    When Should You Feel Concerned About Snoring?     Snoring and excessive daytime sleepiness are serious problems. Maybe your spouse cannot sleep in the same room due to your loud and frequent snoring, or you are getting sleepy behind the wheel due to a lack of sleep. Your child may be snoring at night and be tired at school, which can affect their performance in the classroom.
    Your Dentist Can Help.     Laconi Dental offers a one-night home sleep test study sent home with the patient to conduct in the comfort of their own home. An oral appliance may help. Dr. Laconi will fit you with a mouthguard-type plastic device that is comfortable, improves your breathing, and reduces snoring during sleep. It is also known to save marriages.
    There is currently no very effective cure for snoring or OSA. Oral appliance therapy, CPAP, or surgery will only alleviate your symptoms and help you sleep and feel better. When CPAP fails, oral appliance therapy can be effective for benign snoring, mild OSA, and moderate to severe OSA. The appliances are convenient, comfortable, and significantly less expensive than more involved therapies.

  • Neuromuscular Dentistry

    What is Neuromuscular Dentistry? The occlusion (bite) is the foundation of dentistry. New technology now allows Dr. Laconi to objectively evaluate the complex relationship between teeth, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and the masticatory muscles to achieve an occlusion (bite) based on the correct relationship between the mandible (lower jaw) and the skull.
    Who Is Ideal For This Treatment?     A person who suffers from headaches, jaw pain, Temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and clicking of the jaw
    Treatment: Dr. Laconi may recommend a custom-made orthotic if your bite is a significant factor. With new technology and Myotronics instrumentation, the goal is to relax the muscles controlling the jaw position to establish a proper bite.
    A study of muscle activity using electrodes is measured and recorded; an orthotic is a plastic appliance worn over the teeth to adjust your bite and get you into a genuine relationship with the mandible and the skull.   • Botox/Juvederm

    Botox for years has been only used as a wrinkle reducer, which is something we treat in our office but also is now used to treat chronic headaches and TMJ (temporomandibular) pain. It is a prescription medicine that is injected.
    How Does Botox Treat TMJ or Jaw Tension?Botox is a prescription medicine injected into the facial muscles to treat TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders associated with jaw tension and pain. The injections often eliminate headaches resulting from teeth grinding and even lockjaw.
    The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is located on both sides of your head, where the jawbone meets the skull by the ear. If this joint is overworked through excessive grinding, this may cause one to have severe tension headaches, as well as a sharp pain in the jaw.
    How does Botox Treat Migraines?Botox is a prescription medicine injected into specific points to prevent headaches in adults with chronic migraine who have 15 or more days each month with headache lasting four or more hours each day in people over the age of 18 years or older.
    Botox treatments for migraines are typically given every three months with injections and the temple, the forehead, the back of the head, the neck, and the upper back. This helps to relax the muscles associated with migraines.
    JuvedermJuvederm is a safe and natural filler made up of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural, complex sugar found in all living organisms, including your own.
